Bass is exceptional and even coming from a Devialet Phantom setup I do not need a sub. Generally speaking, the size of the tweeter is not as important as the shape. Pricey for the system but you get what you pay for. The s3000 pro has treble and bass knobs. They sound fantastic in near field listening and are still quite good in a in a more standard set-up - they do however have a small "sweet spot" both left/right and up/down.
